New Job Opportunities for Canadian Nurses with White Glove Community Care
Are you a Canadian nurse seeking to kickstart your career? White Glove Community Care offers exciting opportunities to work in some of New York City’s most vibrant healthcare settings, with excellent benefits and rewarding job experience.
Opportunities for New Graduates
Our Preceptor program for new grad nurses provides a comprehensive, free training course led by highly skilled teachers that covers all relevant training and protocols. Upon completing the program, our dedicated White Glove Career Specialists will match you with one of our excellent private-duty nursing opportunities, which means working one-on-one in a patient’s home.
For Experienced Nurses
If you have more than two years of experience, explore our long-term contracts and travel nursing opportunities in hospital settings.
About the Homecare Job Offer
Private duty nursing allows you to work one-on-one in a relaxed home setting. We offer one-year contracts that involve working three 12-hour shifts each week. We have hundreds of patients throughout New York and New Jersey, including pediatric, geriatric, and adult clients. We will ensure that your placement fits your experience and preferences. This is the perfect way to start your nursing career, enabling you to learn in a smaller nurse-to-patient ratio with a clinical case manager’s support.
What Happens After the First Year?
While you start with home care, our sister company, White Glove Placement, has fantastic opportunities in hospital settings. After a year, if you qualify, we can match you with a placement opportunity you’ll enjoy.
Requirements for Homecare Sponsorship
To qualify for our program, you must meet the following criteria:
- – You must be a qualified RN.
- – Experience Requirements: No experience is required; our comprehensive training and field shadowing will prepare you to start.
- – You must be a citizen of Canada (permanent resident status is not sufficient).
- – You will need a nursing license in New York or New Jersey. Note: If you do not have your New York or New Jersey license, we will assist you in obtaining it.
Signing the Contract
Once you sign our one-year contract, we are ready to begin the credentialing process. At the same time, we can plan for your visa screening.
Getting your Visa Screen
Once you are set on a job, you must apply for a Visa Screen through the appropriate channels. We will guide you through this process to ensure you submit everything correctly.
Documents Needed for Visa Screening:
- – Secondary school diploma or certificate
- – Validations of all nursing licenses and diplomas
- – Proof of passing the CGFNS Qualifying Exam® or the NCLEX-RN®
- – Complete academic records from all nursing programs attended
- – A passport-style photo in JPEG format

Once you have all these documents ready, you can go onto the CGFNS website and complete the application process. https://www.cgfns.org/services/certification/visascreen-visa-credentials-assessment/
Fees: You can view all fees for the Visa Screen here: https://www.cgfns.org/support/fee-schedule/#visascreen
Coming to New York
Once accepted, you’ll receive a job offer letter that will help you secure your TN visa.
TN Work Visa Application Process for Canadian Nurses
Canadian citizens have two options for applying for TN work authorization:
- **Application at a Port of Entry:**
An application can be submitted directly at a Port of Entry along the United States-Canada border, including specific Canadian airports that offer U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). A CBP officer will review the TN work visa application in person and will either approve or deny it. If approved, the CBP officer will issue a paper I-94 Arrival/Departure Record, which serves as the official documentation of the Canadian nurse’s TN status.
- **Application with USCIS:** (Fees will apply)
Alternatively, an application can be submitted to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) at the Vermont Service Center. A USCIS officer will review the TN work visa application and will also either approve or deny it. If approved, USCIS will issue an approval notice, which the Canadian nurse must present to a CBP officer at a U.S. Port of Entry to gain admission to the U.S. under TN work visa status. The CBP officer will then issue an I-94 Arrival/Departure Record confirming the nurse’s official TN status.
Note: Unlike Mexican citizens, Canadian citizens do not need to obtain a TN visa stamp in their passport from a U.S. Consulate.
Required documents for crossing the U.S. border include:
- – Diploma and transcripts
- – Passport
- – Proof of Canadian citizenship
- – New York nursing license
- – Visa screen documentation
- – Job offer letter (provided by us)
Can my children, spouse, or other dependents join me?
Spouses and children of Canadian nurses living in the U.S. can obtain TD-dependent status, which authorizes them to live and study in the U.S. However, TD dependents are not eligible for work authorization.
